You Shook Me All Night Long

06/25/2010

From the Telegraph,

A survey of 50 members of the Society for Sex Therapy and Research, who counsel and treat couples with sexual problems, suggested the time range for adequate, too short and too long copulation.

They said between one and two minutes was too short, three to seven minutes was acceptable, and anything over 13 minutes was too long.

They added that sex lasting between seven and 13 minutes was “desirable”.

The researchers noted that popular culture had tended to reinforce unrealistic ideas about how long sex should last.

Researcher Eric Corty, an associate professor of psychology at Penn State University, said: “Many men and women seem to believe the fantasy of all-night-long intercourse.

“This seems a situation ripe for disappointment and dissatisfaction.

“We hope this survey will dispel fantasies and encourage men and women with realistic data.”

The findings were published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine.

I have to vehemently disagree with the above statistics. I teach clients that sex feels good so why not slow down and enjoy it. I teach them slow motion sex where there is just enough motion to maintain an erection. People employing this technique can often have sex for an hour.

I also teach clients to have the man withdraw when he feels the urge to ejaculate and go back down on his partner and get her off again orally and then re enter her and being intercourse again. Utilizing this technique I have had sex for two hours with very satisfied partners who have enjoyed multiple orgasms with this technique.

I am a marriage, relationship and sexual coach.

    Blessings on you and yours
